BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) - A 100% ice covered roadway is being blamed for an accident on Highway 20 in Black Hawk County that sent a woman to the hospital.

Sergeant Tom Nichols says 35-year-old Esther Brandt-Sabin was headed east on Highway 20 at mile marker 243 at around 10:43 p.m. when she lost control of her car and hit the guardrail underneath the overpass.

Brandt-Sabin was taken to Covenant Medical Center. Her condition has not been released, but Nichols says her injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Nichols says road conditions were 100% ice covered at the time of the accident.
