WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The YWCA in Waterloo was awarded more than a million dollars for an upcoming renovation.

The Black Hawk County Gaming Association awarded the YWCA of Black Hawk County $1,228,000 for the association’s Preserving the Past – Ensuring the Future capital campaign.

The YWCA has already raised $1.5 million for the renovations, but another $3.3 million is still needed to preserve the downtown facility. The building was built in 1924, and the renovation will upgrade plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems as well as make the facility more handicap accessible.
