BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson has announced that Dave Sapp has been named the 2013 Black Hawk County Deputy of the Year.

Thompson presented Sapp with the award during a brief ceremony on Friday, December 13 at the Black Hawk County Law Enforcement Association’s Christmas party.

“Deputy Sapp is a dedicated professional officer. His dedication to his duties and to his division is evident in the work he produces each and every shift,” Thompson said in a written statement.

Thompson says Sapp's focus on narcotics interdiction resulted in more than 125 arrests, almost 50 of them felony arrests, in 2013.

Thompson continued in his written statement, “Dave initiates solid casework, and is committed to ridding Black Hawk County of illegal drugs. His focus, dedication, and drive are certainly worthy of this recognition and his efforts are in keeping with the highest standards of our agency.”
