AMES (KWWL) -

Georges Niang scored a team high 24 points including a reverse layin with 20 seconds left that gave Iowa State the lead for good in a thrilling 85-82 win over rival Iowa.

The Cyclones (8-0) rallied from as much as 10 down in the game, and closed on an 8-0 run in the final 1:21.  Niang's layin gave ISU an 83-82 lead, but soon after a foul by Monte Morris put Hawkeye sophomore Mike Gesell on the free throw line.  Gesell, however missed both shots, and a long McCabe 3 pointer that would have tied it in the final seconds missed the mark.

Aaron White tallied a game high 24 points and a career high 17 rebounds in the loss for Iowa (10-2)
