A Hiawatha woman charged in connection with the 2010 death of 18-month-old Kamryn Schlitter has been sentenced to no more than 50 years in prison.

Amy Jo Parmer, 30, was originally charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death in connection with the March 2010 death of Kamryn, the daughter of her former boyfriend, Zyriah Schlitter.

In September, Parmer was found guilty of lesser charges, involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment resulting in death.

On Friday, Parmer's sentences were merged and she was given the 50-year sentence.

Parmer will receive credit for time served and must serve at least half of that sentence before being eligible for parole.

Zyriah received the same sentence in February after being convicted on the same charges.

Nicole King, Kamryn's mother, stormed out of the Linn County courtroom as recommendations on sentencing were being made.
