Couple donates body armor for police dogs

An Iowa City couple decided to take it upon themselves to make sure all of the city's police dogs are properly protected on duty.
After hearing about K9 vests being donated to another area law enforcement agency, Dennis and Marcia Fouts learned two Iowa City police dogs were without body armor and decided to come up with the money to buy the department the protective vests.

The body armor is bullet and stab resistant.

Mr. and Mrs. Fouts were also able to see exactly how the vests fit on the two police dogs, named Rakker and Luke.  Thursday the generous couple met Rakker and handler, Officer Brandon Faulkcon, and Luke and his handler, Officer Travis Neeld.

The couple also got to see exactly what these dogs can do in a demonstration.
