Harlem Globetrotters dribble to Cedar Rapids

The Harlem Globetrotters don't dunk at the U.S. Cellular Center Arena until Dec. 29, but the team will be spending time in Cedar Rapids to coach prior to the show.

This year's coaching doesn't revolve around passing or shooting - but rather promotes an educational spin. The Globetrotters launch their new community outreach program this year called "The ABC's of Bullying Prevention," focusing on Action, Bravery and Compassion (ABC). The program coincides with the National Campaign to Stop Violence (NCSV).

The team will visit over 300 schools in their "You Write the Rules" World Tour, and some of those schools are those in the Cedar Rapids area.

The Anti-Bullying program is geared toward kids ages six through twelve, showing how being part of a team can offer support in putting a stop to bullying.

Harlem Globetrotter Cheese Chisholm will arrive in Cedar Rapids Tuesday, Dec. 10. He said he tells kids to stay "mentally strong."

"When I was seven years old, Muhammad Ali walked into my barber shop. He gave me his autograph and a kiss on my forehead. That's something I will never forget," Chisholm said.

Catch live interviews with Chisholm Tuesday morning on KWWL's Today in Iowa.
