Hawkeye's Kirksey earns Big 10 Honor

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa linebacker Christian Kirksey was named the Big 10's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday morning.  Kirksey played a huge role in the Hawkeye's 38-17 regular season ending win on Friday.

The Hawkeye senior led the team with 11 tackles, 3 of those for loss.  The biggest came in the third quarter when Kirksey stuffed a Nebraska fake punt giving Iowa the ball in great field position.  They'd score one play later.

The honor is the first in Kirksey's Hawkeye career.
