Police: Drunk Iowa City man crashes, fights officer naked

IOWA CITY (AP) -

An Iowa City man has been accused of multiple disturbances while being intoxicated, including causing a car crash and removing his clothes at a hospital.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says 23-year-old Matthew D. Roberts crashed a vehicle into a guard rail early Tuesday on Interstate 380. He is accused of fleeing the crash on foot and attempting to hitchhike away from the scene.

Police say Roberts appeared intoxicated. He was arrested but injured his head while in the squad car.

He was taken to a hospital, where he is accused of taking off his clothes and fighting an officer.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (http://icp-c.com/1a5a24u ) Roberts is charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and interference with official acts. Court records do not list an attorney.
