Hawks prepare for big game at Nebraska

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

There is a lot on the line when the Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers meet for the third annual heroes game on black Friday at memorial stadium in Lincoln.

The Hawkeyes will be playing for their eighth win of the season and could move into a tie with Nebraska for second place in the legends division.

The Huskers have won the first two heroes games--including a 13-7 win over the hawks last year at Kinnick.

And the Hawks are looking for their first win over the huskers in 32 years...in a series in which  Nebraska has won five straight.

Iowa players and coaches know they have their work cut out for them especially at memorial stadium . The Hawkeyes will  be looking for their first win in Lincoln in 70 years.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said, "My problem is it's kinda been one sided in recent history we were 1 for four. And its probably the kind of rivalry they like and it's our job to try and do something about that , that's what we got to do."

Iowa Quarterback Jake Rudock said, "Well it's never easy going another teams stadium, especially Nebraska their fans are crazy you know I've been there before and they get after it. They'll be loud and ready to go and I think just understand we can handle the environment but not saying hey because we've been here before we can do it again."

The Hawkeyes and Huskers kick it off around 11 Friday morning from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
