A Dubuque man faces theft charges after police say he posed as a property owner to steal money.
Dubuque police say 44-year-old Paul Hoecker purported himself as the owner/manager of rental property and took more than $900 from a person who believed they were paying rent.
Police charged Hoecker with 3rd degree theft after determining he was not the owner of the property.
The charge is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a fine between $625 and $6,250 and up to 2 years incarceration.
