WEST UNION (KWWL) -

Misty Morrissey, the mother of Lyric Cook, has been arrested by Fayette County authorities after a week-long drug investigation.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says 36-year-old Morrissey is charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession with intent to deliver marijuana, ongoing criminal conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

If convicted on all counts, she could serve up to 50 years in prison.

Her bond was set at $130,000 Tuesday. Morrissey's next hearing is Dec. 6 at 2:45 p.m.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office and West Union Police Department executed a search warrant at 100 E. Franklin Street in West Union Monday afternoon. The sheriff's office says that's the home Morrissey shared with 25-year-old Todd Michael Henriksen.

Both are formerly of Waterloo, but now live in West Union.

However, in her court appearance Tuesday, Morrissey told the judge Henriksen lived in Waterloo.

“I just want to say that these charges don't belong on Todd,” she said. “He didn't have anything to do with it. I invited him up for the weekend to work on a tattoo for me and he just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Authorities say their investigation uncovered an operation of possession/sales of methamphetamine and marijuana over the last few months, and deputies recovered a large amount of cash, drugs, digital scales, packaging and evidence showing the distribution of controlled substances.

Henriksen is charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

If convicted on all counts, he could spend up to 15 years in prison. Henriksen's bond was set at $55,000.

Investigators will be going over all the evidence and more people and charges could be filed at a later date.

The arrest comes a little more than a week before the one year mark since hunters found the body of Misty Morrissey's daughter Lyric, and Lyric's cousin Elizabeth, in Bremer County. The discovery happened December 5, 2012. AutAuthoritiesy this new investigation is unrelated to the missing girls, and is more about taking drugs off the streets.

“I think for any person who has grandchildren or children, you certainly don't want this to be sold to them,” said Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher. “We always try to be very proactive on going after the narcotic trade that is going on through the state of Iowa.”
