Posted: Updated:
LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

As of November 8th, more than 260 Iowans have lost their lives in traffic accidents this year.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office reports nearly 50 percent of all fatalities are the result of someone not wearing a seatbelt.

Starting Monday, November 25th through Sunday, December 1st, the sheriff's office is increasing patrols.

Thanks to a grant from the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau, deputies will spend an additional 40 hours checking for traffic violations.
