Hawkeye seniors are celebrated during cold day at Kinnick


The Iowa Hawkeye football team celebrated the annual Senior Day at their game against the Michigan Wolverines. It was the coldest game day in Kinnick Stadium history but family members for 16 seniors braved the cold to support their players.

Parents were lined up in the tunnel at the stadium prior to the game. Minutes before kickoff they were marched to center field where their sons presented them with flowers.

The players that will leave the Hawkeyes at the end of the year, along with their hometown and positions, include:

B.J. Lowery of Cincinnati, Ohio - Defensive back
Christian Kirksey of Saint Louis, Missouri - Linebacker
Jordan Cotton of Mount Pleasant, Iowa - Wide receiver
Anthony Hitchens of Lorain, Ohio - Linebacker
Gavin Smith of North Liberty, Iowa - Defensive back
James Morris of Solon, Iowa - Linebacker
Drew Clark of Marion, Iowa - Offensive lineman
Conor Boffeli of West Des Moines, Iowa - Offensive lineman
Casey Kreiter of Dewitt, Iowa - Long snapper
Brett Van Sloten of Decorah, Iowa - Offensive lineman
Nolan MacMillan of Toronto, Ontario - Offensive lineman
Dominic Alvis of Logan, Iowa - Defensive lineman
C.J. Fiedorowicz of Johnsburg, Illinois - Tight end
Mike Meyer of Dubuque, Iowa - Kicker

Parents wore jerseys with their player's name and number printed on it.

The day is an annual tradition for the football program.
