Don Bosco Wins 8 Man title in a comeback win over Exira

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Don Bosco making its second straight championship game a
appearance takes on an unbeaten Exira team in a battle of co-number ones.
 
The Dons appeared to score the first touchdown of the game but this 65 yard run by Mason Svoboda is nullified by a holding penalty.

Instead its Exira taking the lead on this Trey Sander rips off a 35 yard touchdown run to give the Spartans a 7-0 first quarter lead...

in the second quarter...Exira adds to that--on this 40 yard touchdown run by quarterback Drew Peppers--- 14-0 Spartans.

Don Bosco offense which came in averaging more than 60 points a game was running on empty in the first half-- as the Exira defense shut out the Dons in the first 24 minutes--it was 14-0 at the half.

The Dons finally catch a break with 1 minute to play in the third quarter-- Mitchell Corkery fumbles this pass from Jake Hogan--but Mason Svoboda recovers in the end zone--Don Bosco is on the board.. 14-6.

In the fourth quarter-- the Dons put together to gut wrenching 79 yard drives--- Jake Hogan scores on a 4 yard run to make it a 14-12 game...

And then with just 1:13 to play.. Jake Hogan scored the go-ahead touchdown to give the Dons a 18-14 lead.

The victory was finally sealed-- when Hogan intercepts a Drew Peppers pass with 20 seconds to play... Don Bosco wins the 8-Man State Championship 18-14.
