Iowa City receives high score on LGBT report

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - The scores are in and Iowa City is LGBT friendly. The City did well on the Human Rights Campaign 2013 Municipal Equality Index. Iowa City scored a 90 out of a possible 100.

The report evaluates cities based on laws, policies, and services for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens. According to the Human Rights Campaign, the report is not a ranking of the best cities for LGBT people to live. The campaign chooses cities to rate based on several factors including size.

Just four cities in Iowa were rated as a part of the report. Iowa City and Davenport each scored 90. Des Moines scored 88. Cedar Rapids scored 63.
