Hawks prepare for Michigan

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

It's senior day in Iowa City on Saturday as 15 Hawkeyes will suit up at home for the final time as they host the Michigan Wolverines  --

Michigan is reeling a bit having lost 3 of their last 5 -- but the Wolverines did give the Hawkeyes problems last season -- especially quarterback Devin Gardner --

Gardner accounted for 5 touchdowns last year -- running for 2 -- while throwing 3.

And the Hawkeye defenders -- including senior James Morris -- say containing Gardner will be one of the major keys to victory on Saturday --

James Morris said, "Just maintaining integrity in the pass rush, understanding leverage, and sustaining coverage in the back end when the play starts to break down, because there's the potential he could throw it after he's left the pocket, so all 11 guys need to stay on their responsibilities."

Tanner Miller said, "They're skill athletes, they're Michigan type athletes.  They're always going to be there, they're always going to have them, and Devin Garner's doing a great job of mixing up with run and pass, and he's a guy that can beat you with his legs to if you give him enough time, and it's going to be a tough test for us."

Kick off is set for around 11 Saturday morning from Kinnick.
