CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Parker Hesse and Marcus Weymiller combined for 4 touchdowns as Waukon defeated Albia 27-21 in class 2A to advance to their first ever state final.

The Indians would have to rally from an early deficit however.  Hesse tossed an interception in the first quarter, and Albia capitalized on the next play as Zach Hugen scored on a long reception for an early 7-0 lead.

Waukon quickly responded with Hesse lofting a great pass to Weymiller in stride for a 50 yard touchdown.  Weymiller later added a 5 yard run, but Albia scored late in the half and would lead 14-3 at the break.

The 3rd quarter, however, belonged to Waukon.  Weymiller broke free to score down on a 63 yard run down the right sideline capped by a Hesse run for the 2 point conversion.  Hesse would later score on a 4 yard keeper to maintain a 13 point lead going to the 4th quarter as the Indians would hold on for the win.

Waukon will face Carroll Kuemper on Friday night with a 2A state title on the line.
