Regina rolls past NFV in to class 1A final

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Riley Dixon scored 3 first half touchdowns as top ranked Iowa City Regina rolled past North Fayette Valley 45-21 to advance to the class 1A state football championship.  The Regals will be going after their 4th consecutive state title.

That opportunity, however, seemed a bit in doubt early as NFV led 14-7 in the first quarter following rushing scores from Josh Mackey and Derrick Kuehner.

Near the end of the first quarter, the Regals took over.  Quarterback Drew Cook lofted a beautiful pass over the shoulder of Bryan Amelon for a 34 yard touchdown strike.  They followed that up with 3 rushing touchdowns from Dixon in the second quarter to put the game away.

Regina advances to face Fort Dodge Saint Edmond in the state final.
