Officially a family; Cedar Rapids Adoption Day

It's a special day for Ashlynn and Bella.

Ashlynn is four and Bella is three. They now have a permanent family.

Cindy and Mark LeClere are now, officially, Ashlynn and Bella's parents.

"(It's) overwhelming, great -- oh God, it feels so great, finally getting them," said Cindy LeClere.

The LeCleres are the girls' biological great aunt and uncle.

The couple has always wanted kids and, on February 11, 2012, their family of two doubled in size after the girls were removed from their parents.

"We were scared, we were excited," said Mark.

The LeCleres were one of three families formed Friday morning on Cedar Rapids Adoption Day.

"We do it to celebrate adoptions," said Kara Magnison with Iowa KidsNet. "To make people aware that there is the need, and just how awesome it is that these families started off as foster families and then decided to open their home to a child forever."

For the LeCleres, it wasn't always an easy journey.

"There was always the risk of losing them or that things weren't going to work out," said Mark.

There will likely be struggles ahead, but there's one thing this family is sure of.

"(We'll) just give them a whole lot of love," said Cindy.

They're now a family of four who hope to continue to grow through adoption.
