BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) -
Wednesday, a moose was sighted near Fairbank.
Moose do not typically live further South than northern Minnesota, so while it was exciting for those that saw it, but experts want you to know that should be cautious.
Moose can weigh close to 2000 pounds and stand eight feet tall. That's so tall that your car's headlights won't reflect off their eyes, making them impossible to see in the dark.
"If it happens to be in the road and you're not paying attention, it's very easy to not know it's there and hit it," said Sondra Cabell of the Buchanan County Conservation Board. "It would be tall enough that the body's going to come into the car."
The moose was last spotted near Jesup on Thursday.
Again, if you spot the animal, you are advised to admire it from a distance.
