DNR to release 2K rainbow trout into Cedar Rapids lake

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says workers will release about 2,000 rainbow trout into a lake in Cedar Rapids.

The DNR says the trout will be dumped into the west end of the lake at Prairie Park Fishery on Nov. 22.

Although Iowa lakes become too warm to support trout throughout the year, excess trout produced by the DNR are used for winter ice fishing.

Anglers must buy a state trout stamp to fish for trout.

Prairie Park Fishery is open each day from 6 a.m. until dusk.
