Shell Rock woman killed in Monday crash

SHELL ROCK (KWWL) - The driver and lone occupant of a vehicle died after her car left the roadway and struck a tree on Monday, officials said Tuesday.

Angela Janssen, 52, of Shell Rock, was taken by Shell Rock Rescue to Waverly Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

According to the State Patrol, Janssen's Buick was eastbound on Grove Street in Shell Rock just after 7 p.m. Monday when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Officials are still investigating why the crash occurred.

Janssen was not wearing a seat belt at the time, according to the State Patrol.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Butler County Sheriff's Office and the Shell Rock Fire Department.
