Paws Amore pet business celebrates grand opening in Waverly

WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Jill Bartels-Lovell and Ann Stefan love dogs, which is why they just opened Paws Amore in Waverly. The doggy business actually came about because both women lost their jobs. They say it was a blessing in disguise.

"We decided it's our opportunity. Let's do what we love to do," said Ann Stefan.

Besides a love for animals, Ann Stefan has a business degree and Jill Bartels-Lovell has worked as a dog trainer for three years.

Paws Amore offers training, boarding, and doggy daycare.

"They get social interaction with other dogs instead of being home cooped up while you're at work this way gives them something to do," said Stefan.

Doggy daycare is offered Monday through Friday and includes playtime, recess, and even nap time.

"Daycare is like school. They come in, we play, I work with them with basic commands like sit, stay, leave it. I work with these periodically, and then they go out for recess and we have nap time as well. In between I'm always work with the dogs, keeping their minds busy," said Jill Bartels-Lovell.

Jill Bartels-Lovell said getting your dog out of the house a couple days a week can make a big difference in your pets' behavior.

"It's very beneficial to get them out of the house, especially now with the weather getting cold. They get their exercise in with other dogs, they socialize, and the parent has a good feeling their dog is taken care of while at work," said Bartels-Lovell.

Both women say the most important part of their business is in the name, amore, or love.

"We treat them the same as they would be treated at home," said Ann Stefan.

Paws Amore is hosting a grand opening celebration on Saturday, November 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It's located at 1901 East Bremer Avenue in Waverly.

The grand opening event includes snacks, dog treats, and holiday photos with your pet.
