Cedar Rapids man acquitted of killing woman guilty of assault

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -

A 35-year-old man acquitted in the slaying of a Cedar Rapids cab driver has been convicted in a separate assault case.

Johnathan Mitchell pleaded guilty on Thursday to assaulting Arvin Druvenga on Sept. 25, 2010.

Police say the assault took place while Druvenga and his wife were watching a football game at Coe College from their parked car. The car was parked across the street from Mitchell's house.

Mitchell is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 3.

Last month, Mitchell was found not guilty of murder in the slaying of 54-year-old Cathy Stickley. The cab driver was stabbed to death on April 29, 2011.
