A man accused in the death of his girlfriend's toddler is out of jail tonight after posting bond.
Jorge Perez, 22, is accused of two counts of Child Endangerment Resulting in Death. He posted $10,000 dollars tonight, and was released according to Johnson County jail officials.
Investigators have accused Perez of hitting a child, 20-month-old Marcus Balderas. Police also said a medical examination showed the boy had broken ribs, multiple bruises on his head, face, back and stomach, internal injuries, and subdural bleeding in his head.
Police have also previously arrested Perez's girlfriend, 18-year-old Mireya Balderas, and charged her with Child Endangerment Resulting in Death. Iowa City Police said both people admitted to them that they hit and threw her son several times. The child died in April of 2012 of his injuries.
