TIFFIN (AP) -

The parents of an Iowa teenager killed in a 2011 car crash have settled a lawsuit with the girl's school district for $300,000.

Court records show the lawsuit filed by Michael Lown and Kelly Smith against the Clear Creek Amana School District was dismissed Oct. 14. A trial was scheduled for December.

Their daughter, 14-year-old Mackenzie Lown, was killed in a car crash on Oct. 17, 2011. Zachary Swenka was driving her and several others back from a cross country practice. Police say he drove at speeds of about 100 mph before the crash.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (http://icp-c.com/190cI2G ) the lawsuit claimed the district should have provided transportation for practice.

Swenka entered an Alford plea last month to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to two years in prison.
