CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

In Coralville, voters did not shy away from the city's use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF). That tax incentive helped develop the Iowa River Landing.

Both city council incumbents, Thomas Gill and Bill Hoeft, were re-elected. Laurie Goodrich won the third seat on the council.

Current councilman John Lundell was elected as the city's new mayor.

All of the current members of the council have defended the city's use of TIF, saying even though it led the city to debt there's a plan to pay that debt back.

"We have a course and we're following it and only better things to come in Coralville," said John Lundell, Coralville Mayor Elect.

The race received a lot of national attention due to the investment of the Iowa Chapter of Americans for Prosperity. Coralville mayor-elect John Lundell tells us that he received a call of congratulations from Vice President Joe Biden.
