The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says two Oelwein men have been arrested following a home invasion near Sumner.

Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher says his office received a report at 11:30 a.m. Monday that two men kicked in the door of 8818 Y Avenue while the homeowners were inside.

After the suspects were confronted, they ran into a wooded area, Fisher said.

Once on scene, deputies found one man, 29-year-old Brian Edward Otdoerfer, in a farm area off of 100th Street and Y Avenue. He was treated for minor cuts and fatigue after being arrested.

The second suspect, 28-year-old Michael Jon Rohrick, was found in a cornfield more than three hours later after the Iowa State Patrol airplane was brought in and spotted Rohrick in a cornfield. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of self-inflicted cuts.

No officers were injured.

Fisher says Rohrick was wanted on a $50,000 warrant from Fayette County for delivery of methamphetamine and will face additional charges.

Fisher says Otdoerfer will face criminal charges for the home invasion

The investigation continues and Fisher says more charges will be filed once the investigation is completed.
