Hawks pick up 87-65 exhibition win over Augustana

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

With heavy expectations on their shoulders, the Iowa basketball team opened the 2013-14 campaign with an 87-65 exhibition win over Augustana (IL).

Despite the win, Iowa coach Fran McCaffery didn't seem pleased with his team's effort.

"Now, we won the game," McCaffery said. "But we were substantially outplayed by that team. I think it's exactly what our team needed."

Much of the Iowa victory came from spending a lot of time at the free throw line.  Iowa hit 39 of 50 free throw attempts in the win.

Aaron White and Zach McCabe led the way on Sunday tallying 16 points apiece.

The Hawkeyes open the regular season on Friday hosting UNC-Wilmington.
