Nonprofit plans statewide 5K to benefit adoption

AMES (KWWL) - The National Center for Adoption will hold its inaugural 5k to benefit adoption in Iowa.

All members of the adoption triad will be represented at the Gingerbread Run/Walk, including birth families, adoptive families and individuals who are adopted.

The 5K begins at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, at Ada Hayden Park in Ames.

This event is sponsored by several organizations including Variety The Children's Charity, Iowa KidsNet, AMP-Achieving Maximum Potential and the National Center for Adoption.

Proceeds from Sunday's event will be used to pay for advertisements to promote adoption in Iowa.
