CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
Despite what happened at LAX, it was business as usual this afternoon at the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids. No additional security was called in.
Officials at the airport say they have security plans in place for several different situations and review them regularly. They know you can't predict a shooting...but believe they are prepared.
Heather Wilson, Director of Marketing and Communication - "We have an airport-wide security plan that is very robust, that is regularly reviewed, so that we can help ensure the safety of our passengers and visitors."
There are no direct flights from Cedar Rapids to Los Angeles so there's no immediate impact on the airport. However, some people could have problems with connecting flights.
Officials at the Eastern Iowa Airport say they've never had anyone bring a weapon to the airport, intending to use it. Any weapon brought to the airport was done so by accident.
