#2 DNH advances with 18-6 win over Sumner-Fredericksburg

Dike-New Hartford used a strong defensive effort as the second ranked Wolverines defeated Sumner-Fredericksburg 18-6 to advance in the Class 1A playoffs.

D-NH senior Levi Lynch led that effort with 3 interceptions in the game.  Lynch's final pick, late in the 4th quarter, sealed the Wolverine victory.

Dike-New Hartford opened the scoring in the first quarter when Carson Parker crossed the plane on a quarterback sneak to cap a long drive.  Byron Fritch added a career long 46 yard field goal to five the Wolverines a 10-0 halftime lead.

In the third, DNH forced a turnover on downs, and then marched 90 yards.  Parker capped the drive with a 15 yard touchdown pass to Gabe Eiklenborg.  After a successful 2-point conversion the Wolverines would take an 18-0 lead in to the 4th quarter.

Sumner-Fredericksburg's Connor Shult would hit Josh Arens on a 3 yard touchdown strike in the 4th, but Lynch's interception ended any hopes of a comeback.

Dike-New Hartford will host South Winneshiek in the 2nd round on Monday.
