LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Wis. (KWWL) -

The Wisconsin DNR Bureau of Law Enforcement is cracking down on illegal sexual activities following citizen complaints at Belmont Mound State Park in Lafayette County. Officials on the case say they found advertisements that portrayed the park as a place to meet for adult interactions on Craigslist.

Paul Zajackowski is the Southwest District Park Supervisor for the Wisconsin State Parks.

"This is not a common occurrence within our state park system," he said. "This is unusual and we take the safety of our visitors very seriously and make it a top priority."

The Wisconsin DNR Bureau of Law Enforcement joined the DNR Bureau of Parks, Lafayette County Sheriff's office and the Village of Belmont Police Department to work on the case.

Zajackowski says at least one person is in custody and charges of sexual assault and other illegal behaviors are pending.
