One injured after 3-vehicle head-on crash in Linn County

One person was injured Wednesday morning after a head-on crash involving three vehicles near Fairfax.

Bahati Mukeshimana, 30, of Cedar Rapids was headed north on Highway 151 at around 7:26 a.m. when she went left-of-center and hit two other vehicles head-on near the intersection with Wright Brothers Boulevard, according to Sgt. Harvey Hall of the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

The other vehicles were driven by John Schanbacher, 62, of Atkins, and Mayte Gonzalez, 28, of Cedar Rapids.

Mukeshimana was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for with what Hall considers non-life-threatening injuries. She was ticketed for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.

Hall says all three drivers were wearing their seat belts.
