Flu can be fatal to otherwise healthy children

Posted: Updated:

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control highlights that the flu can be fatal to children, even when they are healthy, according to NBC News.

CDC researchers found most of the 830 children who died from flu-related causes between 2004 and 2012 had not received the flu vaccine.

And although there is a perception is that only sick children are at risk of dying from the flu, 43 percent of these deaths were kids who were healthy with no high-risk medical conditions.

The CDC recommends all children six months or older get a flu shot every year, because any child can be at risk for sever flu-related complications.
