IOWA CITY (AP) -

An Iowa City man has been accused of dressing up as a police officer and checking personal identifications at a bar.

Iowa City police say they received a report shortly after midnight Sunday about 41-year-old Carlos Escorcia checking customers' identification cards at The Union Bar.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (http://icp-c.com/19N1ZMw ) Escorcia wore a dark blue police T-shirt. Police say he also wore a duty belt with a replica revolver, a silver badge and old Iowa City police patches.

Police arrested Escorcia and seized some of his items. He has been charged with impersonating a public official and public intoxication. He has been released from the Johnson County Jail.

Court records do not list an attorney.
