Holiday assistance registration begins in Linn County

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Linn County families are getting help making the upcoming holiday season a little more joyous.

The Salvation Army of Cedar Rapids has begun registering families for Toys for Tots and Holiday Food Assistance.

To qualify, families must fall under 185% of the poverty level and live in Linn County or Anamosa. Families must register to receive assistance.

"We want to make sure that, all the kids in this community, they have a Christmas morning," said Lia Pontarelli with The Salvation Army. "They have a reason to give thanks and be happy and we don't want to make it a burden on the parents more than it needs to be."

Registration will be held through Nov. 15. For hours and a list of what you need to register, click here.
