UNI Women's Soccer beats St. Ambrose for 3rd win of the season

Battling the bitter cold and wind the Northern Iowa Panthers soccer team faced off againstthe St. Ambrose Bees on Wednesday evening. With game-time temps near freezing there was surprisingly shots flying throughout the night.
Panthers Sam Copley and Claire Clark helped grab the early momentum. Copley and Clark fired shots in the 15th and 16thminutes and helped get the UNI attack going early. Ten minutes later in the 26th the Panthers would get on the board. Junior Caitlyn Fuller corralled a deflection inside the goalie box and beat Bees goalkeeper Morgan Lynn for the goal. The goal was Fuller'sfirst of the season and would prove to be the difference in the game. 
Sam Copley, Sarah McHugh, Claire Clark, Maddie Welch and Elizabeth Rodriguez all fired shots during the second halfhowever the St. Ambrose defense kept the Bees in the game until the end. Despite not being able to extend their lead in the second half the UNI defense clamped down and didn't allow the Bees to record any shots in the second half.
The Panthers kicked five corners while the Bees didn't record a single corner kick. UNI fired 11 shots total whileonly allowing St. Ambrose to fire two shots, neither of which were on goal.

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
