WATERLOO (KWWL) -
The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office makes an arrest following an early-morning chase in Waterloo.
According to the Sheriff's office the chase started before 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, when a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle for not obeying a stop sign.
The pursuit lasted for about a mile before authorities say 29-year-old Keith Piper got out of his vehicle and ran from the deputy.
Piper, a register sex offender, was taken into custody. He faces a litany of charges, including eluding police, illegal possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and driving while his license is suspended.
Police say Piper was also charged with violation Iowa's sex offender registry.
