LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

An Olin woman was injured after she drove into a utility pole in Linn County Tuesday morning.

Linn County sheriff's deputies were called to the intersection of Sawyer Road and Prairieburg Road at about 12:39 a.m. Tuesday.

Sergeant Richard Yoder says 47-year-old Christine Egger-Jacobson was driving her van eastbound on Sawyer Road when she failed to stop at the stop sign, went into the ditch and hit a utility pole, shearing it off.

Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative had to respond to deal with the live power lines that were laying on the van and across the road before crews could extricate Egger-Jacobson from the van.

Once she was out of the van, Egger-Jacobson was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The intersection was closed for several hours while Linn County REC made repairs to the power lines.

Charges are pending and the accident remains under investigation.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Anamosa Ambulance, Prairieburg Fire, Coggon Fire and Lifeguard Helicopter.
