University of Northern Iowa mourns death of professor

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The University of Northern Iowa family is mourning the death of Dr. Cliff Chancey, head of the UNI Department of Physics, College of Humanities. Arts & Sciences.

In a letter from UNI President William Ruud and Executive Vice President and Provost, Gloria Gibson, the University says services for Dr. Chancey are pending, but, did not reveal the cause of death. 

In the letter to students, staff and faculty, Rudd and Gibson praise the works of Dr. Chancey, who was a Professor and Department Head of Physics, College of Humanities and Arts & Sciences at UNI since 2001.

UNI notes Dr. Chancey's numerous contributions and accomplishments, among them his launching of the Professional Sciences Masters programs at UNI.  

"His research, teaching and service to the discipline of physics will impact many future physics researchers, teachers and scholars," said the letter.

Dr. Chancey is survived by his sister, Cynthia and brother, David.
