Michigan man charged in Waterloo baby's death

A Michigan man has been brought back to Iowa after being charged in the death of a baby in Waterloo.

Officers and paramedics were sent to 436 Cutler Street at 7:21 p.m. on March 12 for a report of a two-year-old not breathing, according to Captain Tim Pillack.

After efforts by the child's caretaker and paramedics to revive Kannadi Porter, she was taken to Allen Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy showed that the child died of probable hypothermia.

Pillack says a felony warrant for child endangerment resulting in death was issued for 37-year-old Nathaniel Quentin Knight of Charlotte, Mich., on Sept. 30.

Knight was arrested in Kalamazoo, Mich., on Oct. 1 by the Michigan State Police.

He was returned to Waterloo over the weekend and is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
