UPDATE: Four injured after Sunday morning fire in Anamosa

Posted: Updated:

Four people, including three children, were taken to the hospital for treatment after a fire Sunday morning in Anamosa.

Anamosa Fire officials say the fire started at a residence above The Cat Adoption Center at 118 S. Elm Street around 5 a.m.

Four people were taken to area hospitals for treatment.  Two were later airlifted to an Iowa City hospital for treatment.  Fire crews say all are expected to survive.

Authorities say the fire was contained to the 2nd floor of the building but the first floor, which houses the Cat Adoption Center, did sustain smoke and water damage.

None of the animals were hurt, though some did escape.

The State Fire Marshal's Office was at the scene to investigate what caused the fire.
