Family of six displaced in Cedar Rapids house fire

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids firefighters are looking into the cause of a fire at a home on the southwest side.

It happened just after 7 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of Handley Dr. SW.

Firefighters say the homeowner noticed an orange glow coming from the garage.

She was able to get her two teenage daughters out of the home safely.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the garage but say there is smoke damage to the home.

The Red Cross is helping the family of six.
