Both Independence and Western Dubuque are still in the playoff hunt, and they both entered the night with identical 3 and 4 records.
It's been a great turnaround year for Independence, who is seeking its first playoff berth since 1985.
The Mustang student section was sporting pink tonight for breast cancer awareness.
But it's the Western Dubuque Bobcats getting on the board first tonight, with Dylan Gansen running the ball 15 yards for the touchdown.
Bobcats up 7 to zero.
The cheerleaders are hoping for more. It was more of a defensive first half.
In the second quarter, not a positive play for Independence. The bad snap to the punter, but impressive effort by number nine Corbin Henningsen to chase it down and still get the punt off.
Then with less than a minute left in the first half, Western Dubuque got the ball again, with a 23-yard pass to number 10 Austin Hosch for the score.
Bobcats up 14 to zero at the half.
And the Bobcats went on to defeat the Mustangs 20 to 7.
