Athlete of the Week:Josh Mackey North Fayette Valley

WEST UNION (KWWL) -

North Fayette Valley's Josh Mackey gets it done on both sides of the ball. On offense, Mackey leads the Tigerhawks rushing for 1,051 yards in 7 games this season. He's also tied as the team's tackle leader with 65.

As for role models, Josh didn't have to look far. He stepped in to the spotlight following a couple of great fullbacks in Jake Greco and Tanner Mork, who sit #1 and #2 respectively on North Fayette's single season rushing record sheet. It was those 2 that helped him realize what he wanted to do in his high school career.

The success those players had didn't hit Josh right away, though, as last season North Fayette lost 4 games for the first time since 2003. This team, however, has shot out to a 7-0 record and is favored to finish the regular season undefeated, and they believe they owe a lot of it from having to feel the sting of defeat so many times a year ago.

And now, with Josh Mackey running wild, this North Fayette Valley team hopes to bring home a state championship for the first time in 21 years.
