MARENGO (KWWL) -

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested three people from Marengo after they were found stealing from an Iowa County farmhouse.

Lt. Tim Walters says a deputy saw a suspicious vehicle at a vacant farmhouse about five miles northwest of Marengo at about 9:10 a.m. Thursday.

When the deputy stopped to investigate, he found 37-year-old Amy Hoffa, 30-year-old Lucas High and 22-year-old Matthew Ryan inside the house.

Walters says the deputy determined that the three, who recently moved to the Marengo area, were stealing items from the house.

All three are charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree theft.

High faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance. Hoffa faces an additional charge of unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

The three are being held in the Iowa County Jail pending a hearing Friday morning.
