Black Hawks show solidarity with breast cancer patients

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Waterloo Black Hawks hockey team are honoring those affected by breast cancer in their own special way.

Players will be wearing pink jerseys with the names of local breast cancer patients woven into the design during their Oct. 17 and 18 home matches.

After their Oct. 18 game, the jerseys will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the Beyond Pink TEAM. Last year, the Black Hawks raised over $10,000 for breast cancer patients and survivors.

Great Clips will also be at the games cutting hair for patient wigs. Hair must be at least 10 inches long to qualify for donation.

Both matches begin at 7:05 p.m. at Waterloo's Young Arena.
