DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Police Department says a white van that was reported to them as suspicious was found and the occupants violated no laws and the public was in no danger.

Lieutenant Scott Baxter says they received reports on Wednesday about a suspicious white van in the area of Hillcrest Family Services and Flora Park.

Baxter says officers found found the van and the group with it. They determined that it was a religious organization that was doing fundraising in the area as part of a nationwide effort.

Baxter says the group violated no local, state or federal laws and the general public was never in any danger from this group.

Officers were told that the group was leaving town on Thursday.

Baxter says citizens are asked to remain vigilant and always report suspicious/criminal activity immediately.
